Uniqlo details U.S., Canada store expansion for 2024

Uniqlo is furthering its expansion into North America.

The Japanese clothing and accessories retailer, a division of Japan's Fast Retailing, will open more than 20 new stores in the U.S. and Canada in 2024, with several locations already slated to open next spring.(Locations at end of article.) Uniqlo opened its first U.S. store in 2005. It currently operates 53 stores in the United States, along with 19 stores in Canada.

The planned 2024 expansion builds upon Uniqlo’s previous growth initiative launched in 2022 to reach 200 stores in North America by 2027. Recent locations include two stores on Long Island. The company currently operates 53 stores in the U.S., along with 19 stores in Canada.

While accelerating the pace of new openings, Uniqlo said it expects to achieve double-digit sales growth in its existing stores.

The new UNIQLO stores opening in spring 2024 include the following:

U.S.:

  • Tacoma Mall (Tacoma, Wash.)
  • Alderwood Mall (Lynnwood, Wash.)
  • South Shore Plaza (Braintree, Mass.)
  • Providence Place (Providence, R.I.) – (New market) 
  • Staten Island Mall (Staten Island, N.Y.)

Canada:

  • CF Fairview Mall (Toronto)
  • CF Market Mall (Calgary)
  • Scarborough Town Centre (Toronto)
  • Bayshore Shopping Centre (Ottawa)

Uniqlo operates more than 2,400 stores worldwide. Its first store opened in Hiroshima, Japan in 1984.
