Toys"R"Us wants to make July 20 a global holiday

Toys"R"Us will celebrate Play Day on July 20.

Toys”R”Us is launching a new holiday that it plans to celebrate at its locations across the globe.

Described as “a worldwide celebration dedicated to the power of play,” Play Day will take place on July 20 at Toys"R"Us locations around the world, including the brand’s in-store shops at Macy's, and online. 

Play Day will feature activities and events, both in-store and online, including the “Pledge To Play,”  an online form that customers can sign committing themselves to "prioritize play in daily life" and to spending “meaningful time with those I love and doing things that make me happy.”  The pledge signers will receive a year of content, play ideas with product recommendations, giveaways and discounts.

As part of the celebration, Toys"R"Us kids “of all ages” will parade through select Toys"R"Us locations. Other Play Day activities include special discounts, giveaways, chances to win prizes, photo opportunities with Geoffrey the Giraffe and more. 

Macy's will host special events at select Toys"R"Us in-store shops at its locations on Play Day.

Play Day marks the second global holiday introduced by Toys"R"Us, following the launch of Geoffrey's Birthday (October 17th.) Geoffrey's Birthday has become a popular annual event, celebrated worldwide with festivities that feature the brand mascot and toy brand activations.

Toys"R"Us, which is owned by WHP Global,  can be found inside every Macy's store, at flagship locations at American Dream and Mall of America, and online. Globally, the brand generates more than $2 billion in annual retail sales through over 1,400 stores and e-commerce businesses in 31 countries.
