Temu is providing online retailers globally a streamlined way to manage their supply chain while selling on its digital marketplace.

The low-cost shopping app is collaborating with Linnworks, a provider of inventory, order, and warehouse management solutions for e-commerce retailers, in an effort to simplify and optimize sales on its platform for third-party retail partners.

Key features of the integration include automatically synchronization of stock levels with Temu to prevent overselling. Existing and new Temu listings can be linked to Linnworks inventory items for seamless stock and price updates.

"Since our launch in 2022, Temu’s mission has been to make quality products affordable and accessible to all," said a Temu spokesperson. "This partnership with Linnworks enables sellers to seamlessly connect with millions of consumers via the Temu platform, creating growth opportunities for businesses and fresh discoveries for shoppers."

In addition, retailers can create new Temu product listings directly through Linnworks, with automatic price updates to help them stay competitive. Temu orders are downloaded automatically into Linnworks and orders can be marked as shipped, with tracking numbers and shipping service details sent to Temu.

Other features include direct processing of refunds and cancellations on Temu via Linnworks. Temu, which is headquartered in Boston but has close ties to the Chinese mainland, initially launched in the U.S. in 2022 and now operates in over 80 markets, including Europe, the Middle East and Oceania.

"This partnership with Temu is a significant step forward in our commitment to connecting retailers with high-growth marketplaces," said Chris Timmer, CEO of Linnworks. "Emerging platforms like Temu are making great strides in the global e-commerce industry, offering unprecedented opportunities for retailers around the world to reach new audiences and drive growth. We are pleased to be playing a role in empowering these retailers with the tools and integrations needed to thrive in such dynamic environments."

Temu shows solid growth

Studies show that Temu is rapidly gaining popularity with consumers. Recent data from Omnisend shows that 23% of surveyed shoppers planned to buy holiday gifts on Temu, while a study from Statista and AppMagic indicates that the Temu shopping app hit 337 million downloads in 2023, or nearly 80% more than the Amazon app.

In response to the growth of Temu and other low-cost shopping apps such as Shein (which is based in Singapore but also has close ties to China), Amazon launched Amazon Haul, a new dedicated section of its U.S. e-commerce site and shopping app that offers fashion, home, lifestyle, electronics, and other products with what Amazon describes as "ultra-low" prices of $20 and under, and with typical delivery times of one to two weeks.
