Starbucks to open a mobile-order-and-pay-only store

3/31/2017

Starbucks Corp. is making some changes to its Seattle headquarters that include a couple of format debuts.

The coffee giant is set to open its first-ever location that only accepts mobile orders and payments on the eight floor of the building, reported the Puget Sound Business Journal.

In other changes, the Starbucks store in the lobby of the headquarters, which employs more than 5,000 associates, will close temporarily. It will reopen as the first ever location under the company’s new Starbucks Reserve Store banner. Starbucks previously announced plans to roll out the Reserve format with both freestanding stores and in-store Reserve bars.

And while the store in the lobby is under construction, a mobile Starbucks truck will be located outside the building.
