As the sophomore Target + Techstars program comes to a close, at least half of the candidates are already working on pilots with the discounter.
Following the program’s “Demo Day” event, where the program’s 10 selected start-up companies pitched their work to Target team members and the greater tech community, the discount retailer offered formal agreements to half of the enrolled start-ups. They are still in talks with other candidates, according to the
Star Tribune.According to the report, companies including meal kit delivery service Local Crate; Bybe, a startup that embeds alcohol rebates into retailers’ apps; visual recognition solution Savitude, and Kokko, which uses its color-matching technology to recommend cosmetics to customers based on their skin tone, are all working with Target.
Meanwhile, SpotCrowd and StoryExpress will move their operations from Belgium and India to Minneapolis. The move will enable them to continue their discussions with Target, as well as leverage their proximity to the many Fortune 500 companies residing in the Twin Cities, the report added.
