The department store retailer will test free same-day delivery for certain online orders in certain markets.
According to Retail Dive, Macy’s will make same-day delivery free for online purchases of $75 or more in 30 test markets starting Tuesday, Oct. 1. Shoppers in eligible markets will be able to select same-day delivery on qualifying purchases by noon local time Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Orders placed after deadline will arrive the next day. No membership fee is required.
Macy’s has been offering same-day delivery of online purchases of $75 or more for an $8 delivery fee since 2014 in select markets. Third-party service Deliv, who has been Macy’s primary online delivery partner, will support same-day delivery. In an email to Retail Dive, Macy’s said the pilot will last for an unspecified limited time.
Markets for the pilot will reportedly include Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Boston; Charlotte, North Carolina; Chicago; Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio; Dallas; Denver; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Houston; Kansas City, Missouri; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Miami; Minneapolis/St. Paul; New Jersey; New York City; Orange County, California; Orlando, Florida; Philadelphia; Phoenix; Pittsburgh; Sacramento, California; San Antonio; San Diego; San Francisco; San Jose, California; Seattle; Tampa, Florida; and Washington, D.C.
