  • Saks to make Canada debut, in Toronto

    Toronto -- Hudson's Bay Company will sell its flagship in downtown Toronto and neighboring office tower for C$650 million ($587.09 million) to an affiliate of commercial real estate developer Cadillac Fairview Corp., and open a full-line, 150,000-sq.-ft. Saks store in the leased-back space.

  • Rent-A-Center opens Roswell, Ga., store

    Plano, Texas -- Rent-A-Center has opened its newest location in Roswell, Ga. This marks the 79th store Rent-A-Center operates in the state of Georgia.

    Rent-A-Center also operates more than 3,000 stores in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico. The company employs more than 21,000 workers.

  • The Rug Dept. opens in Norwood, Mass.

    Hingham, Mass. -- Building #19, the New England closeout retailer which shut its doors after declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December 2013, has returned as The Rug Dept. The company opened its first Rug Dept. store in the town of Norwood, Mass. on Jan. 26.

  • Le Pain Quotidien leases Manhattan location

    New York — Le Pain Quotidien has leased a 3,100-sq.-ft. retail location at 1006 First Avenue, on the northeast corner of East 55th Street. A former Chase Bank location, the site offers 65 ft. of frontage set slightly above street level, allowing for excellent visibility and signage.

    Le Pain Quotidien, an organic bakery and communal table restaurant, has more than 200 locations on five continents.

  • Bridal Collection to Fairways Plaza, Centennial, Colo.

    Denver  — The Bridal Collection has leased an 18,030-sq.-ft. location at Fairways Plaza in Centennial, Colo. Fairways is a 121,256-sq.-ft. neighborhood center.

    Transwestern represented the landlord, LNR Partners, in the transaction.

    The bridal boutique has planned a May opening.

  • David Yurman opens in Westfield Topanga

    New York -- David Yurman, a fine jewelry and timepiece designer, has opened a store at Westfield Topanga in Canoga Park, Calif.

    Conceptualized by architectural firm of Gabellini Sheppard Associates, the flowing 1,403-sq.-ft. store features classically modern architecture. Every element of the interior reflects the brand's luxurious yet relaxed aesthetic.

  • CBRE acquires Greenville, S.C.-based affiliate

    Los Angeles — CBRE Group has acquired the commercial real estate brokerage, investment property sales and property management services business of The Furman Co. and certain of its affiliates. Those business lines have served as CBRE’s affiliate in South Carolina, and have operated under the banner of CBRE|Furman since 2010.
