Target in new partnership with Champion
Target Corp. is renewing ties with Champion as the discounter looks to rev up its apparel sales.
The retailer is partnering with Champion on a new line that it says will offer a fresh take on the iconic sportswear brand’s signature look, featuring “trend-forward” activewear and sporting goods. It will be available in Target stores and on Target.com beginning in August, with most items will be priced under $40.
With more than 500 pieces, the Champion collection for Target will include apparel, accessories and slides as well as sporting goods, accessories and bags for adults and kids. Following the initial launch, a limited-time-only line of classic, varsity-inspired apparel for women and men will be available in September on Target’s web site and in a dedicated upfront area in most Target stores.
Target and Champion previously collaborated on an exclusive line, C9 by Champion, which was dropped in 2020. In 2024, Authentic Brands Group acquired Champion from HanesBrands in a deal valued at $1.2 billion.
“When you combine Champion's legacy in sportswear with Target's style authority, the result is something special," said Rick Gomez, executive VP and chief commercial officer, Target. "We know our consumers love new and differentiated items, and this partnership is all about merging sport, style and culture in a relevant way that resonates with them.”
The collection will feature on-trend colors, exclusive premium fabrics, unique washes, detailed trims and unique Champion logo, according to Target.
"As one of the most recognizable names in apparel, Champion's presence at Target — a retailer known for its strong connection to the consumer and intentional assortment — marks a significant moment," said Jamie Salter, founder, chairman and CEO at Authentic Brands Group. "This partnership underscores Champion's enduring influence and strategic growth as we introduce the brand in a meaningful way through one of the most respected retailers in the market."
Target’s latest collaboration with Champion comes as the retailer has ongoing partnerships with brands that include Apple, Disney, Kendra Scott, Levi's and Ulta.
