Survey: Weekly online apparel sales surge 66%
Consumers have become increasingly more comfortable with making apparel purchases online.
That’s according to data from Quantum Metric, which found that online apparel sales rose 66% for the week of August 9 - 15 versus the same week last year. The data also showed that the average weekly conversion rate for online apparel sales is running 11% higher than the same week last year. The average weekly orders growth rate is versus 20% higher compared to the year-ago period.
But while consumers are buying more clothing on line, they are not spending more. According to the data, the average weekly order value has decreased 27% versus the same week last year. .
The Quantum Metric data is based on 4.2 billion anonymous and aggregated retailer online and mobile visits from U.S. based consumers from January 1, 2019 through August 15, 2020.
