Amazon should be pleased with consumer intentions for its upcoming Prime Day sales extravaganza (Oct. 13-14).
According to a new consumer survey from Coresight Research, shopper expectations for purchasing and browsing Amazon Prime Day promotions are higher than those for three other major October sales events.
When asked if they expect to purchase or browse Amazon Prime Day promotions the week of Oct. 13, 27% of respondents expect to purchase and 46% expect to browse, but don’t know if they will purchase. Another 14% do not expect to browse or purchase and 13% don’t know.
Respondents were asked about their online intentions only for Prime Day, although deals are being offered at Whole Foods and Amazon brick-and-mortar store banners. For the other three sales events covered in the survey, respondents were asked about intentions for online and in-store shopping.
Target, who along with Walmart is running its own omnichannel sales event overlapping Prime Day, had the next-highest purchase intent for its Oct. 13-14 “Deal Days” promotion (13%). Another 37% expect to browse, but don’t know whether they will purchase, while 31% don’t expect to browse or purchase and 19% don’t know.
When asked about their intentions for Walmart’s annual “Big Save” promotion Oct. 11-15, 11% of respondents expect to purchase, 43% expect to browse, but don’t know whether they will purchase, 29% do not expect to browse or purchase, and 17% don’t know.
And when asked about their intentions for the new “10.10 Shopping Festival,” which occurs Oct. 9-11 and is co-organized by Coresight Research, 10% expect to purchase, 31% expect to browse, but don’t know whether they will purchase, 36% do not expect to browse or purchase, and 23% don’t know.
