Study: Companies seeking the most entry-level employees include...
Restaurant chains – and one discount giant – lead the way when it comes to openings for entry-level job applicants.
All-you-can-eat buffet chain Golden Corral, Olive Garden and Longhorn Steakhouse took the top three spot in an analysis from online financial services company CashNetUSA of the 20 major U.S. companies with the highest proportion of entry-level job listings published on LinkedIn. Target and Waffle House rounded out the top five. (A list of the top 20 companies is at end of article.)
At Golden Corral, 93 out of the 94 job acancies at the point of analysis were entry-level (98.9%). Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse had a similar proportion of entry-level jobs to Golden Corral, but based on thousands of job ads rather than a few dozen, said CashNetUSA.

While Target landed fourth on the list, the retailer is one of the hardest retailers to get your foot in the door with, receiving nearly nine applications per entry-level vacancy, according to CashNetUSA. The report noted that the odds of landing a job are better at grocers like Giant Eagle (0.7) and Hy-Vee (0.8), which receive far fewer applicants per job listing.

CashNetUSA analyzed publicly available data on entry-level job availability (as a percentage of overall vacancies) and the number of applicants from LinkedIn job listings. It focused on the 100 biggest employers, the 50 biggest restaurant and retail chains in the U.S. and the 13 globally recognized big tech companies.
