Sauce on the Side and its signature calzones debut in St. Charles in the spring.

Many economists predict the advent of COVID-19 vaccines will have caged-up masses busting out of their houses and packing social centers come spring. If that’s the case, the Streets of St. Charles mixed-use center in St. Charles, Mo., will be ready for them.

Owner and operator Cullinan Properties has signed three new restaurants to leases at the site. Napoli III has already opened and Loaded Nachos and Sauce on the Side are scheduled to open in the spring.

“Having grown up in St. Charles and watching it develop over the last few years, this location was at the top of our list when we decided to join the Sauce on the Side family,” said franchisee Brian Slater.

The Travel Channel’s “Food Paradise” named Sauce on the Side the “Cheesiest Restaurant in America,” in 2015 for its Cock-a-Doodle Noodle calzone. Its concept--featuring hand-crafted calzones, salads, and desserts--began franchising in 2018.

Streets of St. Charles is a 27-acre community that includes multi-family residential and office components within a town center design. Founded in 1796 as Les Petites Cotes, St. Charles was Missouri’s first state capitol, was a stop on the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and was home to Daniel Boone.
