  • Ikea expanding its Detroit-area store with help of Clark Construction Company

    Conshohocken, Pa. -- Ikea has begun significant demolition of a 30,145-sq.-ft. building adjacent to its Detroit-area store in Canton, Michigan. Razing of the vacant retail building will make room for the Swedish retailer’s planned expansion of its Canton location. The 311,000-sq.-ft. store, which opened June 2006, will grow nearly 44,000 sq. ft., with the project’s completion by summer 2015.

  • Study: Mobile rich media drives expansion, engagement

    New York - Mobile rich media advertising drives high expansion rates and secondary engagement for retail brands. According to internal retail industry mobile ad performance analyses conducted by predictive mobile advertising provider AdTheorent Inc. across its network during the second quarter of 2014, rich media drove a strong expansion rate across the retail category, delivering at a rate 125% higher than the industry average.

  • Global Facility Management hires Lennox exec as sales manager

    Melville, N.Y. — Global Facility Management & Construction has hired Jaime Trujillo, a former member of the sales team at facilities services provider Lennox, to its sales team.  In his new role as sales manager, Trujillo will be instrumental in developing new business and expanding existing accounts.

     

  • Callison to be acquired by Dutch design giant

    Seattle -- Seattle-based architecture and design firm Callison said it will be acquired by Arcadis, a global design consultancy firm based in the Netherlands.

    The transaction is slated to be completed in the third quarter of 2014. Arcadis also owns architectural design firm RTKL, built asset consultancy firm EC Harris, and Asian construction program planning and value management consultancy Langdon & Seah.

  • Food Lion to remodel 45 Greenville, North Carolina, stores

    Salisbury, N.C. -- Delhaize America banner Food Lion has unveiled a new shopping experience for customers in 31 stores in the greater Wilmington, North Carolina, market, and has announced plans to remodel 45 stores in Greenville as part of the grocery’s "Easy, Fresh and Affordable…You Can Count on Food Lion Every Day" strategy.

  • Ferrandino & Son hires VP operations

    Farmingdale, N.Y. - Ferrandino & Son Inc., a provider of exterior maintenance, facility services, HVAC, lighting and electrical services, painting and general contracting, has hired Tom Panek as VP operations. Panek will be responsible for the day to day operations across all of Ferrandino & Son programs.  

  • Deckers global headquarters gets Silver LEED certified

    Goleta, Calif. – The corporate headquarters of Deckers Outdoor Corp. Company's corporate headquarters has achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED Certification is awarded for buildings that are energy efficient and environmentally sustainable in design and operation.

  • More supermarkets certified by Green Building Initiative

    Portland, Oregon -- The Green Building Initiative announced a wave of Green Globes certifications for new supermarkets across the nation. The properties include New Seasons Markets in Oregon, and Whole Foods Market, Price Chopper, Aldi’s, Harris Teeter, Wegmans, and Publix stores across the country.
