Men’s grooming concept plans aggressive expansion in Texas

3/18/2017

Hammer & Nails Grooming Shop for Guys, a new franchise that bills itself as the lone male grooming option, is set to open its first 50 locations in Texas. Dallas and Houston shops are due by summer, and eight more are expected to be operating in the state by year’s end.

The concept was originated in 2013 by Michael Elliot, who opened the first and only corporate-owned Hammer & Nails on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. The salons will provide hand and foot care, in addition to haircuts, in a “man cave” environment.

The Texas invasion is being led by area representative Ron Guthrie, a franchisee who owns eight The Joint Chiropractic locations, three European Wax Centers, and three Massage Envy Clinics.

“No one is delivering male-centered grooming services the way we are,” said Elliot, CEO of the burgeoning chain. Elliot appeared on Shark Tank in 2014, but failed to get any Sharks on board with his concept.

Hammer & Nails locations are also planned for Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Lubbock, Midland, Laredo, and Corpus Christi.
