Soccer legends to descend on American Dream for exhibition match
Soccer fans will have a unique opportunity to celebrate the game at American Dream ahead of the World Cup coming to the United States next year.
A special Legends Match soccer exhibition will take place at the East Rutherford, N.J. shopping and entertainment complex on Oct. 30, followed by meet-and-greets with the players on Oct. 31. The Legends Match will feature a lineup of soccer legends, including Sergio Goycochea, Mario Kempes, Carlos Valderrama, Juan Pablo Sorin, René Higuita and Óscar Córdoba, along with a special appearance from Maradona’s son Diego “Fernando” Maradona.

The two-day event coincides with the 65th anniversary of Diego Maradona’s birth and the upcoming opening of the Soccer Factory, an immersive experience honoring the culture of Argentine soccer, at American Dream. The attraction will feature interactive installations, rare memorabilia, championship trophies, and personal tributes that will “bring Maradona’s story to life.” Guests can explore recreated spaces such as Maradona’s childhood home and memorial, enjoy 3D experiences, sample his favorite dishes, and even test their own soccer skills.
“American Dream has become a global destination for soccer fans of all ages, and we’re proud to continue building that legacy as we look ahead to World Cup ’26,” said Adam Petrick, chief marketing officer of American Dream. “It’s a true privilege to host these soccer icons for a friendly exhibition and open an exhibit that honors one of the greatest footballers of all time. This is just the beginning of many world-class soccer experiences and events coming to American Dream.”
In addition to the match, the two-day event will include fan interactions, photo opportunities, and legends dinners. Tickets to the match start at $25, with free admission for children under six. Premium tickets are also available and include an exclusive meet-and-greet before the game.
In 2026, the World Cup international soccer tournament will be held in North America, including some matches at MetLife Stadium, which is adjacent to American Dream.
