Smoothie King continues to move towards its 2024 goal of 100 new store openings.

Smoothie King hit near-record store growth numbers in its third quarter.

The Dallas-based smoothie chain reported 38 new store commitments and 28 new store openings across 16 states in the most recent quarter, marking the highest number of store openings in a single quarter in six years and the second-highest in its history.

Highlights of the quarter include the opening of a new Austin, Texas location (the first in the area in three years), a flagship store opening at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, the opening of two new stores in Colorado and the signing of six new commitments in the state as part of a broader expansion plan. The chain also opened its first stores in New Hampshire and Delaware.

Nearly 70% of Smoothie King's growth this year has been driven by existing franchisees, which the chain says is “a testament to the ongoing confidence in Smoothie King’s business model and its commitment to supporting franchisee success.”

“Our third quarter results reflect our focused approach to growth and expansion,” said Chris Bremer, chief development officer at Smoothie King. “With 28 new stores opened and 38 new commitments secured, we’re seeing strong momentum across the country. Franchisees are reinvesting in the brand, and we’re breaking into new markets, positioning ourselves for continued success into the next quarter and beyond.”

The third quarter success is just the latest for the chain. In its second quarter, Smoothie King opened 18 new stores and signed 34 new store commitments. The store openings included new locations across markets in Georgia, Texas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Florida, New York, Kentucky, Colorado and Wisconsin.

Smoothie King operates nearly 1,200 units nationwide.
