Just one week after announcing a new private equity investment, Smoothie King has announced a slate of new additions to its development pipeline.

The smoothie chain says it added 25 new store commitments across 12 states in the second quarter, with especially strong development in Georgia and Texas (its home state), each securing six new deals. Smoothie King also welcomed six new franchisees into the system this quarter.

The new store commitments build on Smoothie King’s already hot year. In the first quarter, the chain opened 13 new stores, and added 20 new commitments to its development pipeline. Earlier this year, the company said it expected to open approximately 105 new stores in 2025.

"Guests have been loving the fact that they don't have to choose between flavor and nutrition – Smoothie King delivers both while helping nourish those healthy habits," said Gavin Felder, president and chief financial officer atSmoothie King. "Our brand is expanding in fun and exciting ways, from new franchisees and world-class investment partners to craveable new menu offerings, all while keeping guest satisfaction front and center."

Earlier in July, Smoothie King announced that San Francisco-based private equity firm Main Post Partners had made a minority growth investment in the chain. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Smoothie King said the investment positions the chain for "accelerated growth, innovation and market leadership.”

The new store commitments in the second quarter were announced in tandem with Smoothie King reporting major sales milestones in June. On Friday, June 20, the brand reached its highest single-day system-wide sales ever. The momentum continued through National Smoothie Day on June 21, which marked the brand's busiest Saturday ever. The historic run was capped off by the highest-traffic Sunday of the year.

Founded in 1973, Dallas-based Smoothie King operates over 1,200 stores nationwide.
