Macy’s is providing customers of all its retailer banners the ability to pay in four equal, interest-free installments at online and in-store checkout.
The department store giant is expanding upon a partnership it launched with global retail bank, payments and shopping service Klarna in October 2020. Macy’s will exclusively offer the Klarna Pay in 4 in-store and online across all of its brands. Customers can now pay for purchases made on Macys.com, Bloomingdales.com and Bluemercury.com, as well as Macy’s more than 750 U.S. retail locations, and pay in four interest-free installments using the Klarna platform.
Shoppers can pay in-store by downloading the Klarna app, creating a onetime-use digital card and adding it to their Apple or Google Wallet. Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury customers can then make a secure and contactless payment with a single phone tap.
Macy’s is one of the first retailers in the department store vertical to partner with Klarna. The company is also an investor in Klarna as part of a plan to fast-track initiatives that offer digital shopping and flexible payment, as well as appeal to younger consumers.
"Klarna's in-store option gives our customers the same shopping experience they already enjoy online, in-store, making it easier for them to purchase with confidence," said Matt Baer, chief digital officer, Macy's, Inc. "We're excited to expand our partnership with Klarna to bring even more convenience to our shoppers in-store by enabling flexible, contactless payments at checkout."
“As one of the most successful retailers in the U.S., Macy’s continues to drive retail innovation to meet customers wherever they are, through any channel,” said David Sykes, head of U.S. at Klarna. “As demand for digital, contactless payments skyrockets, Klarna is excited to expand its partnership across Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and Bluemercury to enable them to offer a superior shopping experience for customers nationwide, both in-store and online.”
Headquartered in New York City, Macy’s Inc. comprises three retail brands: Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and Bluemercury.
