Sam's Club is teaming up with Spot Pet Insurance.

Sam’s Club is introducing new healthcare services aimed at pets and their owners.

The warehouse club retailer, a division of Walmart, is partnering with Spot Pet Insurance to provide integrated pharmacy program and discounted insurance plans exclusively for its  members, with an in-store medication dispensing service.

Through the partnership, Sam’s Club is offering up to 15% off customizable pet insurance plans and Spot’s additional 10% multi-pet discount on all added pets through Spot. More than 110 pet medications are available for $80 or less, with no reimbursement forms and more than 50 of these medications are available for $15 or less.

In addition, a select flea, tick and heartworm preventative medication for cats and a select heartworm preventative medication for dogs is available for no out of pocket cost.

"We knew there was an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of millions of families," said Sherri Keeth, VP of healthcare, Sam’s Club. "After all, we’ve made big strides in improving the Sam’s Club member experience — from simpler healthcare to trusted pharmacy support right inside our clubs. With all that progress, shouldn’t caring for our pets feel just as easy?"

Sam’s Club has long offered pharmacy and healthcare services to customers, including same-day delivery of pharmaceutical products to members and non-members via the DoorDash Drive white label fulfillment platform, as well as exclusive offerings on 98point6’s telehealth virtual clinic via a text-based app.

Meanwhile, Sam’s Club parent Walmart introduced its first-ever dedicated Pet Services center in the Atlanta suburb of Dallas, Ga. in September 2023 and has since expanded it to stores in other cities.

The Pet Centers offer routine veterinary care (vaccines, wellness exams and minor medical services) and grooming (baths, nail trims, teeth cleaning, ear cleaning and basic hair trims), with services provided by qualified veterinary and grooming professionals in collaboration with PetIQ, which currently owns and operates vet clinics on-site in more than 65 Walmart stores.

The retailer plans to continue to expand its Pet Services centers to more communities in the future and also provides home delivery of pet prescriptions. The Walmart Pet Services centers have their own separate entrance. Only service animals are permitted inside Walmart stores.

In addition, in October 2024 Walmart debuted its Pawp for Walmart+ benefit, which was announced earlier this year. This new online pet care service will give Walmart+ members free, 24/7 access to Pawp's team of veterinary professionals with unlimited $0 visits via text or video.
