Sam’s Club extends shopping hours; offers seasonal reduced-fee membership deal

Sam's Club holiday campaign
Sam's Club is reducing membership fees in a limited-time offer.

In a limited time offer, Sam’s Club is slashing its membership fees in time for holiday shopping.

The Walmart-owned warehouse club retailer is offering new members a club membership for $15, which is $35 less than its standard fee of $50 a year, and a Plus membership for $50, down from its usual fee of $110. The deal is available Oct. 4 through Oct. 31.

In addition, Sam’s will host an Open House, from Friday, Oct. 17, through Sunday, Oct. 19, that will allow shoppers to experience Sam’s before committing to a membership.

“This special weekend offers the chance to shop the club like a member and discover the value we provide first hand,” the company stated. “Instant access to members-only pricing is available on everything Sam's Club offers — from fresh food and household staples to the latest technology, and much more."

Sam's has also introduced no minimum purchase requirement on its curbside pickup service and updated its Express delivery fees for Plus members. Curbside pickup is now free for both Club and Plus members with no minimum purchase required on every order, no matter the size.

And the company is simplifying its Express delivery service to a flat fee. For Plus members, the fee is now $8 per order with no minimum purchase (previously $16 if the order was under $50). Club members continue to pay a $20 flat rate per Express order.

Expanded Hours

in response to “overwhelming” member feedback, Sam’s has extended  its operating hours to give members more time to shop in-club. Effective Oct. 12, most clubs will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day. (Hours may vary on certain holidays, and clubs will remain closed on New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and Easter.)

To get the word out about its new initiatives, Sam’s is teaming up with entertainer Chris Pratt and launching a “Yes AND” holiday campaign.
