More than half of shoppers said they will be shopping after Christmas.

Along with returning unwanted gifts post-holiday, consumers will also be continuing their holiday shopping.

More than 38% of shoppers will be returning holiday gift items they didn't want, according to a survey of over 1,000 shoppers by RetailMeNot. The survey also found that holiday shopping will continue into the new year — 51% of shoppers said they will be shopping after Christmas.

As to their reasons, 48% said they will look for better deals and sales after the holidays, and 34% said they are planning to shop for themselves. Nine percent will be looking for better-stocked shelves and items they couldn’t get during the Black Friday and the holiday shopping bottleneck.

End-of-year and early-2022 shoppers are also self-gifting and on purchases related to New Year's resolutions.
