Retailers, suppliers connect at SPECS 2020

Virtual SPECS 2020

Retailers from more than 100 retail, restaurant and specialty chains registered to attend Chain Store Age’s annual SPECS show, which took place August 4-6, 2020, in an all-virtual format.

At a time of unprecedented industry change and upheaval, SPECS provided attendees with the solutions and insights they need to help their businesses thrive —  now and in the future. Dedicated to the planning/design, construction and maintenance of stores and  restaurants, the show took place on a virtual platform that offered all the signature hallmarks of SPECS, including multiple networking opportunities, a dynamic exhibit hall, best-practice sharing and breakout educational sessions.

The show also allowed for real-time business connections via one-on-one, face-to-face meetings between retailers and suppliers. More than 1,000 meetings were generated during the event.

The SPECS breakout sessions were focused on developing and operating safer store environments in today’s “new normal” landscape. Retail professionals and industry experts provided first-hand insights, delving into construction/design, facilities management, personal development and employee and customer safety topics. (See end of article for a listing of all the sessions.)

SPECS 2020 is now available on-demand.  Registered participants can still visit the show floor, download materials and view the educational sessions. (Qualified retailers can still register to take advantage of the on-demand event.) All content will be available through Sept. 3.

Here is a list of the SPECS breakout sessions:

  • HVAC and Healthy Spaces: Reducing Airborne Exposure of COVID-19 and Other Viruses
  • Checklist for Emergency Store Closures and Reopenings
  • How Will Retail Spaces Evolve in a Post-Pandemic World?
  • Next-Gen Tech Solutions to Keep Stores Clean
  • Restaurant Reopening Preparation: Ensuring Customer and Employee Safety

SPECS 2020 is designed to be easily accessible. Attendees will be able to access the sessions and exhibit hall, attend meetings and network with others from their own desk chair via computer or tablet.
