Retail private equity deals on the rise in Q2 fueled by U.S. companies

Total retail industry private equity deals in the second quarter hit $2.63 billion globally.

The total value was up 11.9% over the previous quarter, according to GlobalData’s deals database. But it was down 11% when compared with the most recent four-quarter average.

At the country level, the U.S. topped the list in terms of deal value, at $2.45 billion. 

The top five deals accounted for nearly 96% of the quarter’s total deal value. Number one on the list was Apollo Global Management’s $1.75 billion private equity deal with Albertsons Companies, followed by the $535 million private equity deal with Wayfair by CBEP Investments, GHEP VII Aggregator and The Spruce House Partnership

The third highest-ranked deal was Vesa Equity Investment’s $169 million private equity deal with Foot Locker.
