Walmart is not ceding drone-based delivery innovation to rivals.

One patent filing is for a system that would have a drone land on an outdoor platform and then send a signal that would open a trap door, enabling an automated system to move the package inside.
The second filing is for a window unit including a net that would automatically catch drone deliveries, with sensors confirming the package has been dropped off. Other drone delivery pilots and publicly identified drone delivery patent filings have involved packages being dropped on the ground.
