REI to go big in Oregon

REI has 181 locations in 42 states and the District of Columbia.

REI Co-op continues to expand its store footprint.

The outdoor gear and apparel retailer will open a store in Beaverton, Ore., in spring 2024, serving as the anchor tenant at Walker Center.  At 39,512 sq.ft., it will be REI's largest location in the state, where it currently operates eight stores.  In addition, REI Re/Supply, a standalone store dedicated to used gear and apparel, will open at Clackamas Town Center, in Clackamas, Ore. on September 2.

REI Beaverton will feature the largest gear and apparel assortment in the state.  Certified mechanics will be tune and repair equipment through the store's full-service bike, ski and snowboard shop. 

REI has been steadily expanding its footprint nationwide. It recently announced its first 2025 store opening, Durango, Col., in spring 2025.  As of June, the retailer had several new stores scheduled to open in upcoming months, including Prescott, Ariz.; Sarasota, Fla.; Bedford, N.H.,  Huntington, N.Y.; and Laguna Hills, Calif.  In addition, it will open in Tulsa, Oak. In spring 2024.

REI is also expanding its active adventures travel business. In July, the company said it had launched three Canadian Rockies trips for year-round adventure, as well as new destinations in the United States.  In addition, REI’s paddling operations have doubled in location number and its day tours are expanding in the Bay Area.
