REI Durango will open in spring 2025.

The specialty outdoor retailer said it will open a store in Durango, Col., in spring 2025. It will be REI's 10th location in the Centennial State.

The 22,000-sq.-ft. outpost will offer a wide assortment of apparel, gear and expertise for camping, cycling, running, fitness, hiking, paddling, climbing, snow sports and more. In addition, certified mechanics will tune and repair equipment through a full-service bike, ski and snowboard shop.

The Durango location is the first 2025 store opening REI has announced to date. The retailer has several new stores scheduled to open in upcoming months, including locations in Clackamas, Ore.; Prescott, Ariz.; Sarasota, Fla.; Bedford, N.H., and Huntington, N.Y.; and Laguna Hills, Calif.

In addition, it will open in Tulsa, Oak. In spring 2024.

REI counts nearly 9,000 members in Durango, 2.2 million members in Colorado, and 250,000 members in the Albuquerque-Santa Fe, New Mexico media market DMA.

"We have long been interested in joining the Durango community, said Janet Hopkins, REI regional director. “Despite the closest REI store being over 100 miles away, we have nearly 9,000 active members in the area," We look forward to being a resource to all and partnering with nonprofits doing incredible work to protect natural places and create belonging in the outdoors."

REI's philanthropy efforts are centered on the belief that the outdoors should be a place where everyone can be themselves, access opportunities, and connect with their community.
