  • Edwards Realty acquires North & Harlem Plaza

    Oak Park, Ill. — Edwards Realty Company has acquired the North & Harlem Plaza in Oak Park, Ill., for $4.7 million, according to Mid-America Real Estate, which represented the seller, Hudson Advisors LLC, in the transaction.

    The 23,320-sq.-ft. center features Dunkin’ Donuts, The UPS Store, Check‘n Go, American Mattress and Batteries Plus.

  • Sembler to redo St. Petersburg Publix center

    St. Petersburg, Fla. — The Sembler Company is redeveloping the Publix Shopping Center at 3700 4th Street North in St. Petersburg, Fla., on behalf of Publix Super Markets.

    Publix will close the store on Dec. 28 to begin the redevelopment of the 50,600-sq.-ft. grocery store and associated liquor store. Improvements will include the construction of new buildings, new landscaping and parking areas. Publix expects to re-open in its new buildings in late 2014.

  • Victoria’s Secret, Hudson Group partner on store at JFK terminal; more expected in 2014

    East Rutherford, N.J. -- In partnership with travel retailer Hudson Group, leading lingerie and beauty retailer Victoria's Secret has opened a new Beauty & Accessories store in John F. Kennedy International Airport's Terminal 4. The new store will focus on a range of beauty products and accessories.

  • Jared opens 200th store

    Akron, Ohio -- Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry officially opened its 200th location in Carle Place, N.Y., at the Carle Place Commons Center. The store includes a complementary refreshment area, a children’s play area and a full-service custom jewelry design and repair center, which will custom mount, clean and repair most jewelry.

  • RadioShack opens new concept store in Fairfax, Va.

    Fort Worth, Texas — RadioShack has opened a new concept store in Fairfax Center II in Fairfax, Va.

    The new concept stores feature a speaker wall where customers can compare 13 different speakers; interactive displays with headphone demo stations; technology explained by touch-screens and apps; brands such as Apple, HTC and Samsung as well as mobile carriers including AT&T, Sprint and Verizon; and a do-it-yourself area where customers can plan projects.

     

  • Report: Houston retail real estate market looks strong in 2014

    Houston – Growth in the Houston retail estate market is expected to follow strong residential real estate growth in 2014. According to a report from NewQuest Properties delivered at the recent BoyarMiller Real Estate Forum, there are about 15 new shopping centers planned or under way in Houston.

    In addition, the Houston retail sector is struggling to keep up with growth in the city and experiencing very low vacancy and default rates

  • Floor & Décor signs into Tucson’s ABC Retail Center

    Tucson, Ariz. — Floor & Décor has signed a long-term lease for a 58,205-sq.-ft. space at ABC Retail Center in Tucson, Ariz. It will be the specialty retailer’s first location in Tucson.

    CBRE represented Floor & Décor in the transaction. The landlord, ABC Broadway/Kolb Center LLC of Tucson represented itself.
