  • Chico’s, Soma make outlet debuts in Kansas City area

    Kansas City, Kan. -- Legends Outlets Kansas City said Wednesday that the region’s first Chico’s Outlet and Soma Intimates Outlet will open on June 24 at the Kansas City outlet shopping destination.



    The Chico's Outlet's new store will be located between BCBG MaxAzria and Five Guys Burgers & Fries, and the Soma Intimates Outlet's new store will be located between Gymboree and Claire's.

  • Wisconsin to gain new Walmart, Macy’s and Target

    Milwaukee -- A Wednesday report by the Milwaukee Business Report said that the Village of Greendale (Wis.) has approved a Walmart and garnered one of several approvals needed for a Macy's at the village’s board meeting held Tuesday.

    The board approved rezoning, a special use permit and other plans needed for a 92,000-sq.-ft. Walmart slated to include a pharmacy and grocery with two out-lots for future developments.

  • Aldi opens store in enclosed mall in suburban Chicago

    New York City -- Discount grocer Aldi has made its U.S. mall debut, opening in Westfield Chicago Ridge, an 800,000-sq.-ft. enclosed shopping center in Chicago Ridge, Ill. The mall is a property of The Westfield Group.

    The 20,000-sq.-ft. store offers the same prices and products as other Aldi stores, and also features the retailer’s current interior prototype elements. The store is entered through the mall entrances.

  • Westside Market to open in Manhattan

    New York City -- New York City-based Winick Realty announced that Westside Market has leased its fourth Manhattan location at 2589 Broadway, between 97th and 98th Streets on the Upper West Side.

    The 46-year-old family-owned food market and caterer took a total of 15,607 sq. ft., including 8,607 sq. ft. on the ground floor and 7,000 sq. ft. on the lower level. It currently runs two additional Upper West Side locations, as well as one in Chelsea.

  • Survey details importance of a store’s external appearance

    New York City -- Even in today’s digital world, a store’s physical appearance matters -- and it does so significantly, according to market research firm Morpace’s latest Omnibus survey. The study shows that consumers form an opinion of a business based on physical presence, which heavily influences their decision whether or not to shop at a location.

  • CB Richard Ellis names retail exec

    Newport Beach, Calif. -- CB Richard Ellis announced Monday that Scott Riddles has joined the company’s Western Division Retail team as a senior VP. Riddles will be joined by his current team – Derek Fitch, Rob Crumly and Ryan Riddles – and all will be based in the firm’s Newport Beach office.

    Riddles comes to CBRE from SRS Real Estate Partners, formerly Staubach Retail, where he was a founding partner.

  • Chipotle to open at Bloomingdale Square

    Brandon, Fla. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased restaurant space in Brandon, Fla., at Bloomingdale Square to Chipotle Mexican Grill.

    Chipotle has leased 2,650 sq. ft., bringing the center to 96% leased. The tenant is slated to open for business in fall 2011.

    The 267,736-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by a Walmart, Bealls and Publix Super Market alongside national retailers such as Dollar Tree, Hallmark, RadioShack and Bank of America.
