  • Shoppers World to open at Northern Lights Shopping Center

    Columbus, Ohio -- Tarrytown, N.Y.-based DLC Management Corp. said that Shoppers World has signed a lease at Northern Lights Shopping Center in Columbus, Ohio. The 40,805-sq.-ft. apparel/variety merchandise retailer signed an eleven year lease and will join a dominant tenant lineup at this 361,000-sq.-ft. shopping center including Kroger, Marshall’s, Sears Outlet, and Citi Trends.

    Shoppers World is expected to open in the summer.

  • Three retailers to open at Cherry Hill Mall this spring and summer

    Cherry Hill, N.J. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust said that its Cherry Hill Mall property, located in Cherry Hill, N.J., will welcome three new retailers this spring and summer.

    Lids Locker Room opened in March, and two shoe retailers, Traffic and Clarks, are slated to open this summer.

  • Scheels to open 220,000-sq.-ft. store in Sandy, Utah

    New York City -- Sporting goods retailer Scheels will open a 220,000-sq.-ft. store in Sandy, Ohio. The store, which will be located at a new development to be called One Fourteen, will feature a 65-ft.-tall Ferris wheel, a 16,000-gallon salt-water aquarium, and “sports simulators” for golf, soccer, hockey, baseball, football and basketball.

    Scheels operates 23 stores in eight states. The new Ohio location is expected to open in the fall of 2012.

  • Sunrise MarketPlace teams with Mallfinder to launch new website

    Citrus Heights, Calif. -- Sunrise MarketPlace said Tuesday it has partnered with Mallfinder to launch a redesigned website promoting more than 400 merchants and services in the Citrus Heights, Calif., business improvement district (BID).

    The new site, shopSMP.com, is intended to establish the online presence of Sunrise MarketPlace as a premier shopping destination for the Sacramento metro area. A comprehensive gallery features pages for each merchant to provide up-to-date information for shopping, dining, entertainment and services.

    The nation’s capital tops a list of the healthiest retail markets for 2011. The ranking, “ChainLinks/Terranomics Retail Power Rankings for 2011,” is based on the general overall health of a marketplace and includes such factors as overall economic indicators, income growth, ongoing construction, rental rate trends, and the amount of retail demand in the market.

  • EnVu and CBL partner on interactive media program

    New York City -- Interactive media company enVu said it has partnered with mall owner CBL & Associates Properties to deploy an immersive advertising platform, enSpire, within select CBL shopping centers located throughout the nation’s Top 20 designated market areas.

    The enSpire platform utilizes interactive floor projection displays that engage consumer interaction with the featured content while providing a memorable experience for mall visitors and enhancing brand recognition and purchase intent for advertisers.

  • CBL malls in the Midwest give back through National Random Acts of Kindness Week

    Chattanooga, Tenn.-based CBL & Associates Properties said that eleven of its malls in the Midwestern U.S. handed out 6,000 gifts during National Random Acts of Kindness week, Feb. 14-20.

    The program is designed to give back to the community and support local nonprofit groups.

    New York City -- British footwear and apparel retailer L.K. Bennett plans to open 30 to 40 stores in the United States during the next three to five years, Women’s Wear Daily reported.
