Editions de Parfums leases Upper East Side flagship site

4/22/2009

New York City French perfume retailer Editions de Parfums has leased 800 sq. ft. at 898 Madison Ave., in Manhattan, as the company’s flagship location in North America.

The ground-floor space in a landmark, circa early 1900s cooperative apartment building was brokered by The Lansco Corp., New York City, for the landlord 19 East 72nd Street Corp.

The retailer’s fragrances are currently located only at Barney’s New York locations across the country.

“The landlord was looking for a very special retailer that would be in keeping with the character of both the building and neighborhood to fill this space,” said Alan Victor, an executive VP of Lansco, a member of the X Team Retail Services Network, who represented the landlord in this transaction along with Lansco director Amie Claps.

Editions de Parfums was founded by Frederic Malle with the idea that perfumers should be able to create fragrances without any limitations in creativity, budget or resources. Malle encouraged his expert perfumers to treat fragrances as works of art and created Editions de Parfums to showcase and reveal their talent to the public.
