Customers with prescriptions from their veterinarians can place orders through The Pharmacy at PetSmart.
PetSmart is launching The Pharmacy at PetSmart as a comprehensive online destination for the medical needs of cats, dogs and livestock.
The leading specialty pet retailer is offering products ranging from allergy relief to refills on medication and more on The Pharmacy at PetSmart. Customers with a prescription from their veterinarian can now place orders on petsmart.com. Prescription medications are then processed through PetSmart's online pharmacy and shipped directly to the customer.
To use the service, PetSmart customers with an active vet prescription can go to PetSmart's online pharmacy, find the correct medication, and add it to their cart. After providing relevant pet and vet information, customers check out to complete the transaction, while PetSmart handles the prescription verification.
The Pharmacy at PetSmart customers who place orders of $49 or more will receive free shipping, and through Jan. 30, 2022, members of the PetSmart Treats loyalty program can save 35% on most medications included in their first pharmacy autoship (up to a maximum of $20), and 5% on recurring orders.
PetSmart's online pharmacy is administered by fulfillment partner Allivet, a licensed pharmacy and provider of medication and veterinary supplies which is licensed in all 50 states. Allivet Pharmacy fulfills all prescription medications through PetSmart, and orders are available for delivery.
PetSmart has been expanding its offering of digital services to customers. This includes a recent collaboration with “buy now pay later” (BNPL) platform Afterpay to give customers the opportunity to have flexible payment options when shopping both in-store and online. PetSmart customers using Afterpay can make purchases and pay for them in four interest-free installments, due every two weeks.
The company is also partnering with on-demand delivery platform DoorDash to facilitate on-demand delivery of pet supplies and accessories across nearly 1,500 of its stores nationwide. Customers can now order products for on-demand delivery through the DoorDash app or website, in addition to the Petsmart.com website, for same-day delivery.
The retailer is leveraging the DoorDash Drive white-label fulfillment platform that powers direct online delivery. Rival specialty pet supply retailer Petco entered a partnership with DoorDash in December 2020.
"The Pharmacy at PetSmart is an exciting new way to help our customers access medications for pets quickly and conveniently," said Kristin Shane, senior VP of merchandising, PetSmart. "Whether you're ordering your prescriptions for your dog or cat, on petsmart.com or our mobile app we'll make sure you get exactly what your pet needs to thrive delivered right to your door."
"We're excited about our partnership with PetSmart," said Sree Upadhyayula, CEO of Allivet. "Not only is PetSmart a great brand, their incredible name recognition and high standards are a great opportunity for Allivet' s cloud pharmacy to deliver high-quality products at the lowest prices to an even larger audience."
