Pet Valu names Loblaw veteran as president, COO

Greg Ramier joins Pet Valu from Canadian grocery giant Loblaw Companies Limited, where he served more than 23 years in various roles.

Canadian pet supplies retailer Pet Valu Holdings Ltd. has added to its C-suite with the appointment of a newly-created role.

Greg Ramier has joined the company as president and COO effective Aug. 12. He will oversee the execution of strategic initiatives while growing long-term profitability. Pet Valu's leaders for merchandising, marketing & digital, supply chain, franchise store operations, and corporate store operations will report to Ramier.

Ramier joins Pet Valu from Canadian grocery giant Loblaw Companies Limited, where he served more than 23 years in various roles, most recently spending six years as president of Market Division, Loblaw’s national full-service conventional grocery business. 

"Greg brings to Pet Valu a wealth of retail industry, commercial, operational and management experience gained from his leadership roles over a 30-year career," said Pet Valu CEO Richard Maltsbarger. "We are looking forward to the additional focus and comprehensive understanding of retail that he will bring to our strategic growth and operational efficiency priorities."

Pet Valu also announced that Christine Martin-Bevilacqua, its chief administrative officer, will be retiring effective Oct. 19, 2024. Martin-Bevilacqua has served over 22 years with Pet Valu, and is currently leading the human resources, franchising and real estate, lease administration, facilities and construction teams.

"Christine has provided consistent and outstanding performance that has allowed her to lead a number of diverse and interesting functions across Pet Valu, not only today, but throughout her career,” said Maltsberger. “She has been an advocate for our people, including our Animal Care Experts, leaders and franchisees, as well as thousands of others who have called upon her over the past two decades to help shape their professional and personal development.”

Headquartered in Markham, Ontario, Pet Valu provides pet food and pet-related supplies at more than 800 corporate-owned or franchised locations across Canada under the Pet Valu, Bosley's by Pet Valu, Total Pet and Tisol Pet Nutrition & Supply banners.
