Perry’s Steakhouse to open a second Alabama location
When Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille opens a new location, it’s not cattle being driven into the center’s parking lot, it’s valuable new retail, restaurant and entertainment brands.
The latest property to win a Perry’s Steakhouse is the MidCity District in Huntsville, Ala., a $2.2 billion mixed-use redevelopment of CBL’s former Madison Square Mall. It was one of the more closely watched mall-to-mixed-use conversions in the Southeast and a 2025 Congress for New Urbanism Charter Award winner.
The CNU awards recognize outstanding achievements in architectural landscape and urban design and planning worldwide.
“We put a strategy in play to activate a 140-acre, dead mall site and turn it into a district that people actually want to move to, shop in, and invest in,” said Nadia Niakossary, director of development for Cranbury, N.J.-based RCP Management, the developer, owner and operator of the MidCity District. “When a brand like Perry’s chooses a market, other national operators take notice."
Perry’s 11,000-sq.-ft Huntsville location will have an expansive main dining room allowing views of the kitchen from every angle. It will be able to accommodate 350 diners, who can also sip fine vintages at Perry’s Bar 79.
MidCity is located near Huntsville’s Cummings Research Park, tenanted by defense contractors and aerospace engineering companies that include Boeing, Lockheed and Raytheon.
Huntsville, whose 215,000 residents make it Alabama’s most populous city, experienced massive growth following World War II. The U.S. Army established the Redstone Arsenal there, and it has remained there involved in research on rockets. The United States Space Command and the Marshall Space Flight Center were all sited at Redstone Arsenal.
At MidCity District, Perry's Steakhouse & Grille will join a roster of national tenants that includes REI's first Alabama store, the market's only Trader Joe's and Topgolf.
