The Paper Store is moving forward with a store operations transformation initiative based on a mobile POS solution.

The specialty gift retailer has implemented the Jumpmind Commerce mobile POS platform across its footprint of more than 105 U.S. stores, replacing a legacy monolithic POS system. Initially announced in June 2023, the deployment has occurred across 800 Apple iPad and iPhone devices.

Built on a fully microservices-based, API-first and cloud-native architecture, architecture, the Jumpmind Commerce platform supports POS activities as well as “endless aisle” customer fulfillment through seamless integration with The Paper Store’s existing order management system.

The Paper Store is also leveraging the Jumpmind inventory solution to streamline back-of-house merchandise receiving and replenishment to the store floor. In addition, the retailer has implemented the Jumpmind Promote unified promotion solution, which enables it to run more than 200 concurrent promotions without using multiple legacy platforms.

The Jumpmind deployment is part of a broader transformation of The Paper Store’s brand as the company continues to expand into new geographies, including three new store locations in the Chicagoland area opening in the second quarter of 2024.

"Jumpmind understands the retail store – both what’s required operationally, but also – and of equal importance – what’s required for store employees," said Craig Hewitt, COO of The Paper Store. "Jumpmind Commerce’s modern, intuitive user interface has reduced our associated training requirements from 3 hours to 15 minutes. We have employees from 16-to-80-years-old using this modern technology and it’s a testament to Jumpmind’s focus on ensuring its solutions are intuitive and easy to use."

"We’re pleased to be partnered with The Paper Store on its purposeful path to innovation as this enduring retailer celebrates its 80th year in business," said Joe Corbin, CEO of Jumpmind. "The brand and its store experience continue to be reimagined, ensuring that The Paper Store stays relevant with new generations of modern shoppers."
