New York -- Ron Stoupa, a former Pep Boys and Bass Pro Shops marketing executive, has been appointed executive VP and chief marketing officer of, Sports Authority.
Stoupa will be responsible for leading the strategic development and oversight of the company’s marketing plans. The Englewood, Colorado-based company operates 466 locations throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
“Ron has more than 20 years of experience leading marketing strategies across a variety of retail industries,” said Sports Authority CEO Michael E. Foss. “This extensive professional experience allows for a unique analytical and creative marketing perspective. We are thrilled to have Ron on board to lead our marketing efforts and help build the Sports Authority brand with new and existing customers."
Stoupa was with The Pep Boys since 2009 where he last served as chief marketing officer and oversaw the repositioning of the 90 year old brand. Stoupa led all aspects of marketing, including strategy, CRM and creative, according to Sports Authority.
Prior to Pep Boys, Stoupa spent four years at Bass Pro Shops as director of marketing. Prior to that, he spent six year with ConAgra in a marketing role.
