Mattress Firm in corporate restructuring

Houston -- The integration of the Sleep Train organization into Mattress Firm continues as the firm works to drive future growth.



Mattress Firm Holding Corp. announced that Ken Murphy has been promoted to president and Rob Killgore to COO.



The company announced that Dale Carlsen, founder of Sleep Train, will assume the role of executive vice chairman and chief philanthropy officer, Carlsen will work closely with the senior executive team on key strategic initiatives, vendor relations, mergers and acquisitions, and community engagement.



In his expanded role as president, Murphy now has responsibility for all sales functions of the company, including store operations and distribution, marketing, merchandising and e-commerce. Murphy first joined Mattress Firm in 1998 and was most recently co-chief operating officer.



As COO, Rob Killgore is now responsible for all support functions including strategy, information technology, real estate, legal and human resources. Killgore joined Mattress Firm as co-chief operating officer in 2014 as part of the Sleep Train acquisition where he was most recently COO.



With more than 2,300 company-operated and franchised stores across 41 states, Mattress Firm has the largest geographic footprint in the United States among multi-brand mattress retailers.
