GameStop increases holiday hiring
GameStop must know something other retailers don’t judging from the retailer’s plans to increase holiday hiring.
Other retailers who have announced season hiring plans kept this year’s projections at or near last year’s levels, but GameStop said it will increase holiday hiring by 12% and bring on 28,000 workers at its 6,800 stores and other facilities.
GameStop said the increase signifies the company’s commitment to providing exceptional service during the holidays as it gears up to provide unique and lasting solutions for every holiday customer, including new and pre-owned video game products and collectible items.
“Providing exceptional customer service is the cornerstone of GameStop’s promise to make our customers’ favorite technologies affordable and simple,” said Lisa Keglovitz, vice president of human resources for GameStop. “Hiring an additional 28,000 seasonal associates will ensure we are appropriately staffed to meet our customers’ needs this holiday.”
GameStop is recruiting for in-store sales and service advisors, consumer electronic technicians within its refurbishment operation center (ROC), and warehouse personnel for the company’s two distribution centers based in Grapevine, Texas and Louisville, Kentucky.
