    San Francisco -- Williams-Sonoma said Thursday it has launched a new direct-to-consumer gifts and accessories brand called Mark and Graham. The brand will debut with its own direct mail catalog and website.

    New York -- The National Retail Federation on Wednesday said it looked forward to continuing to work with President Obama and the new Congress toward the goal of putting Americans back to work and ensuring that the nation’s economy remains the strongest in the world.

  • Neiman Marcus to launch international shipping for e-commerce customers

    Dallas -- Neiman Marcus Group said Tuesday it has launched international shipping and payment options for online sales via a relationship with global e-commerce expansion platform FiftyOne Global Ecommerce.

    The move will allow Neiman, which has only a domestic bricks-and-mortar presence, to expand its online reach to 100+ countries. It kicks off with a promotional flat-rate shipping offer on all international purchases through Dec. 10.

  • Supervalu cuts 700 jobs at Shaw's

    West Bridgewater, Mass. -- Supervalu said Monday it has cut about 700 store-level positions at the company’s Shaw's and Star Market stores in New England.

  • Golfsmith names CEO

    Austin, Texas — Golfsmith International has named Sue E. Gove president and CEO.

    Gove, formerly president and COO of the combined Golfsmith and Golf Town business, has also served as the chief integration officer leading the successful Golfsmith-Golf Town combination, which was finalized this past July. Marty Hanaka, the previous CEO, will serve in an advisory role through the end of this year.

  • Macy’s stores to open midnight on Black Friday

    New York -- For the second year in a row, Macy’s stores nationwide will open at midnight on Black Friday, Friday, Nov. 23.

    A new Black Friday feature on Macy’s mobile app will help customers browse and shop for specials specific to their local store.

  • Newsweek ranks 15 greenest retailers in America

    New York -- Office Depot has been recognized in Newsweek magazine’s annual Green Rankings as the number one greenest large retailer in the United States for the third consecutive year. Across all industry sectors, Office Depot was ranked as America’s ninth greenest large company.
