Online home improvement brand opens first U.S. store — with more to come

Vevor has opened its first U.S. store, in Houston.

A vertically integrated, global home improvement brand that started out as an eBay seller has opened its first U.S. physical store.

Founded in Shanghai in 2007, Vevor has opened a 32,000-sq.-ft. flagship in Houston. The store is designed to bridge the gap between online browsing and real-world decision-making through an integrated buy online, pick up in-store model.

Beyond the initial launch, Vevor said it plans to transform the space into a community hub by hosting ongoing workshops, seasonal events, and skill-building programs designed to help creators tackle projects with ease.

Looking ahead, Vevor intends to use the Houston flagship as a blueprint for a strategic nationwide retail rollout. The brand said it plans to expand its physical footprint to other major U.S. cities, “continuing to offer a seamless, omnichannel approach that empowers customers to create, build, and improve with confidence.”

Vevor began selling on Amazon in 2013 and launched vevor.com in 2020. The company operates in over 50 countries, with a network of 200-plus global warehouses and a catalog of more than 15,000 products spanning tools, outdoor equipment and home improvement solutions.

“As customers increasingly seek clarity and confidence before a purchase, this store serves as the vital link between our digital catalog and the physical world," said Gavin Wu, brand director at Vevor. "By opening our first global flagship in Houston, a city built for makers, we are creating a destination where people can explore options, ask questions, and develop practical solutions for both home projects and small business needs."

In a January release announcing the store, Vevor said it selected Houston as the location for its debut U.S. store because of its “large base of homeowners, contractors and small business operators, along with a well-established DIY culture.” The company also said customers would be able explore professional-grade tools in dedicated hands-on demonstration areas at the store, including a “Hands-on Pro Zone.”

“As more customers want to see, test and understand tools before buying, this store helps bridge that gap by offering hands-on product experiences while maintaining the accessibility and value customers expect from Vevor,” Wu said in the release.
