Ocean State Job Lot upgrades transportation management

A regional discount retailer is improving logistics planning and efficiency with a new transportation management system.

Rhode Island-based Ocean State Job Lot is deploying the Manhattan Associates transportation management platform in an effort to building a fast, intelligent transportation network and a seamlessly unified supply chain.

Operating more than 150 stores across nine states, Ocean State Job Lot is supported by a network of distribution centers and a roster of global suppliers. Assortment includes a changing selection of brand-name, first-quality merchandise at closeout prices, including household goods, apparel, pet supplies, seasonal products (holiday, gardening, patio, pool, and beach supplies), and kitchen pantry staples. 

A longstanding Manhattan warehouse management technology customer, the retailer is replacing its legacy transportation management system with the Manhattan Active TM solution in an effort to significantly improve its logistics planning and execution capabilities.

This move also marks Ocean State Job Lot’s first step in an effort toward unifying distribution, transportation, labor and automation within a single, cloud-native application built on the Manhattan Active supply chain platform.

Cloud-based, microservices-built (the application is a collection of loosely bundled services) Manhattan Active TM is engineered to be extended and never need upgrading.
