Bob Eddy, BJ's Wholesale Club
Bob Eddy, chairman and CEO of BJ's Wholesale Club, has been elected chairman of the NRF board of directors.

The board of directors of the National Retail Federation has a new chairman and three new members.

BJ’s Wholesale Club chairman and CEO Bob Eddy has been elected chairman of the NRF board of directors. He succeeds Walmart U.S. President and CEO John Furner, who has served in the role since 2022.

"As we look to the year ahead, we are fortunate to have Bob take the helm as chair of the NRF board of directors," said NRF president and CEO Matthew Shay. "Bob has a longstanding history and personal involvement with NRF, including serving as past chair of the finance executive committee. He leads a company that is experiencing rapid growth and expansion, and his experience and expertise will be invaluable as the retail industry continues to evolve and innovate at a rapid pace.”

Shay noted that  Furner encouraged the pursuit of several new strategic initiatives during his tenure as NRF board chairman, including NRF’s and Comexposium’s expansion of Retail’s Big Show to Europe and Asia Pacific, and  NRF Foundation’s partnership with Georgetown University to strengthen bonds between the academic community and retailers’ evolving needs.

In his current role, Herringon leads numerous businesses, including Amazon’s online and mobile shopping experiences worldwide, global operations and fulfillment, Prime, Amazon Grocery, Amazon Business, Selling Partner Services, and Amazon Health Services.

Other new board members include Steve Preston, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International, and Neela Montgomery, Orveon Global CEO.

NRF Foundation

Goodwill’s Steve Preston also was tapped as the new chairman of the NRF Foundation, succeeding Macy’s, Inc. chairman and CEO Tony Spring.  Spring will remain on the NRF board and executive committee.

"Goodwill works to eliminate barriers to employment and help people in need reach their full potential through learning and the power of work,” said Preston. “In many ways, this goal directly correlates with the work of the NRF Foundation. I look forward to bringing this shared pursuit to fruition and expanding the reach of retail as a lifelong career destination.”
