Nordstrom Rack is continuing to expand.
Nordstrom is expanding the footprint of its off-price banner, Nordstrom Rack.
The department store retailer will open a 24,000-sq.-ft. Nordstrom Rack at The Terrace at Hamilton Place, Chattanooga, Tenn., in spring 2023. The open-air shopping center is owned and managed by CBL Properties. With its opening, Nordstrom will operate three Nordstrom Rack locations and one Nordstrom store in Tennessee.
Kansas
Nordstrom Rack is also expanding in Kansas. It will open a 28,000-sq.-ft. location at Bradley Fair in Wichita, an open-air shopping district managed by WS Development.
The store is expected to open its doors in spring. With its opening, Nordstrom will operate two Nordstrom Rack stores and one Nordstrom store in Kansas.
Nordstrom Rack has struggled to return to pre-pandemic levels. In December, reports surfaced that Nordstrom had hired AlixPartners to help it review a possible spinoff of Rack into a separate company. The retailer said it was “taking action” to improve performance at Rack, including optimizing inventory levels, better balancing price points and increasing brand awareness.
In April, Nordstrom said it was streamlining the leadership ranks of Nordstrom Rack, centralizing its customer strategy under one leader and consolidating responsibility for store operations across both Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack.
