  • Toys'R'Us comes to aid of children impacted by Sandy

    WAYNE, N.J. — The Toys"R"Us Children's Fund has pledged a $500,000 donation to Save the Children, a global humanitarian organization, to support its initial work and assessment of needs for children and families in evacuation shelters. These funds will also help the organization distribute much-needed items, including hygiene kits, diapers, and baby wipes.

    Redwood Shores, Calif. -- Regional department store retailer Von Maur has implemented the Oracle Retail Merchandising System suite of applications to support same-store revenue growth, as well as its scheduled expansion into new markets, such as Atlanta, Milwaukee, Victor, N.Y., and Hoover, Ala.
     

  • Campbell's names first-ever chief marketer

    CAMDEN, N.J. — Campbell Soup Company has appointed Michael Senackerib to the newly created role of chief marketing officer, reporting directly to Campbell’s president and CEO Denise Morrison.

    Senackerib will lead Campbell’s marketing function, including marketing services, global advertising, design, media, digital marketing and consumer and customer insights.

  • HSN Q3 driven by strong digital sales

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — HSN Inc. reported that net sales for the third quarter increased 5% to $537.4 million, including 10% growth in digital sales. Cornerstone's net sales increased 13% to $241.4 million, including 22% growth in digital sales.

    Adjusted EPS increased 32% to 66 cents compared with 50 cents in the prior year. GAAP diluted EPS from continuing operations decreased 26% to 31 cents compared with 42 cents in the prior year.

    New York -- Sales of Halloween candy, decorations and other items may not reach the $8 billion mark anticipated earlier by the National Retail Federation as Hurricane Sandy turned consumers’ attentions elsewhere.

  • Mohawk picks Pergo brand to bolster flooring portfolio

    Mohawk Industries said it will acquire leading laminate flooring brand Pergo for $150 million.

    The deal is expected to close during the first quarter of 2013 and gives Mohawk access to a brand that has become synonymous with laminate flooring over the years. Pergo’s 2011 sales in the U.S. and Europe were roughly $320 million according to Mohawk, who acknowledged the company as a leader in laminate flooring technology with unique patents on design and installation methods.
