  • Former footwear exec vaults over to Topo Athletic

    NEWTON, Mass. — Former Reebok and New Balance executive Chris Cohen has been named VP of sales at Topo Athletic.

    Founded in December 2012, Topo is a brand focused on designing innovative athletic gear that amplifies the natural mechanics of the human body. In his new role, Cohen will lead North American sales and sales operations for Topo.

  • Help wanted: teen retailer Delia’s seeks CEO

    Walter Killough will step down as CEO of the 109 unit Delia’s retail chain on April 1.

    The retail said it and Killough reached a mutual agreement not to renew his employment agreement which was scheduled to expire on August 2. Plans now call for Killough to leave the company on April 1, however he may stay on longer if a replacement has not been named.

    ARLINGTON, Va. — The Retail Industry Leaders Association has made changes to its top staff. Former Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us executive Garth Gasse has joined the association as director of retail operations, asset protection. Lisa LaBruno has been promoted to SVP for retail operations.

  • Ulta Beauty holiday sales up 23.2%

    Bolingbrook, Ill. -- Ulta Beauty reported that its holiday revenue grew 23.2% as sales “strongly” rebounded the weekend before Christmas.

    Total sales for the seven-week holiday period were $475.6 million, compared with $386 million in the year-ago period. Same-store sales increased 7.4%, on top of a 12.6% increase during the same period in the prior year.

  • New brand to debut at Banana Republic

    Shoppers looking for apparel inspired by the summer sophistication of the Hamptons will want to head to the Banana Republic this spring.

    The Banana Republic division of Gap has teamed up with designer Michelle Smith to introduce a 60 piece collection of her signature Milly brand that includes women’s apparel and Smith’s first foray into the menswear category. Beginning in May, the products will be available in an unidentified number of Banana Republic’s 600 stores and online. The products will be featured in June promotional materials.
