  • Michael Kors profit dips in Q3; nearly doubles full-year forecast

    New York -- Michael Kors Holdings Ltd. reported Tuesday that profit for the quarter ended Dec. 29 decreased to $636.8 million, compared with $373.6 million in the year-ago period.

    However, the designer and retailer forecasted fiscal 2013 profit at more than double its year-earlier performance.   

    Revenue surged 70% in the third quarter, fueled by strength in the accessories category, and the company predicts that fiscal 2013 sales will leap 62%.
     

  • NY & Co creates capsule collection with Eva Mendes

    NEW YORK — New York & Company and actress Eva Mendes announced that they have signed a multi-year agreement to collaborate and create a co-branded seasonal capsule collection available at New York & Company (NY&C) stores nationwide and online beginning fall '13. Additional terms of the deal were not disclosed. The to-be-named label will feature apparel and accessory items inspired by Mendes' own personal style and red carpet looks.

  • Brainteaser game wins Game of the Year

    OTTAWA, Ontario — PlaSmart Inc., the Ottawa-based global toy distributor, announced that its brainteaser game PerplexusTM Epic was named the 2013 Game of the Year last night by the Toy Industry Association.

    The Toy of The Year (TOTY) award is the latest accolade earned by PerplexusTM Epic, which also received the PTPA (Parent Tested Parent Approved) Media Seal of Approval, among others.

  • CVS names head of digital initiatives

    WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark has announced the appointment of former Staples executive Brian Tilzer as SVP chief digital officer.

    In his new role, Tilzer will develop and lead teams driving CVS Caremark's company-wide digital innovation efforts and will focus on connecting current and future digital initiatives.

  • Fisher-Price gets into some monkey business with Saban Brands

    NEW YORK — Saban Brands that Fisher-Price Inc., a subsidiary of Mattel, will be the global master toy licensee for the company's newly announced Julius Jr. property. Julius Jr. is an animated preschool series slated to launch on Nick Jr. in 2013, and is inspired by the Paul Frank family of characters and its iconic monkey, Julius. Fisher-Price plans to produce a full range of products including playsets, plush, role play toys and more for the global marketplace.

    The leading online source for auto repair information has received additional funding and deepened its relationship with Cars.com.

    RepairPal, already a featured content partner on Cars.com's Web site, gives shoppers access to auto repair and maintenance estimates and advice for common problems from technicians which can result in a visit to a local auto parts retailer or a service department of a dealer or local repair shop.
