  • Macys.com improves customer insight with SAP analytics

    New York - Macys.com has successfully deployed the SAP InfiniteInsight solution to help better understand customer buying behavior and optimize email and website marketing campaigns. The company had a number of variables to understand when it came to understanding likelihood of a customer to spend in a certain product category.

  • Abercrombie CEO pay drops 72% on falling profits

    New Albany, Ohio -- Abercrombie & Fitch Co. CEO Michael Jeffries saw his pay shrink 72% in 2013, according to a filing by the company on Tuesday.

    The teen retailer has recorded declining sales and profits, and Jeffries has come under fire. His total compensation last year was $2.24 million, down from $8.16 million in the previous year and $48.1 million in Abercrombie’s fiscal 2011. He was paid more than $20 million a year in the three years before that, according to the report.  

  • JDA Software seeks new CEO

    JDA Software Group, a leading global supply chain planning and execution solutions provider, has appointed Baljit (Bal) Dail, a technology executive who has served as JDA’s chairman since May 2013, as interim CEO, effective immediately, replacing Hamish Brewer, who is leaving the company.

    Dail will lead the search for a permanent successor to lead the company in the next phase of its strategic growth plan.

  • Outlook remains positive despite flat April sales

    Retail sales rose ever so slightly in April, putting a damper on hopes of a sharp uptick in economic growth in the second quarter. According to the U.S. Commerce Department, retail sales, which include categories such as automobiles, gasoline stations and restaurants, rose 0.1% in April, following a revised 1.5% increase in March that ranked as the biggest since March 2010.

  • Lands’ End launches omnichannel swimsuit promotion

    Dodgeville, Wis. – Lands’ End is running an omnichannel swimsuit promotion called the “Lands’ End Getaway Tour.” From May 17 through June 7, the Lands' End Getaway Tour will make stops in Atlanta, New York, Boston, Toronto, Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin, with personalized fittings and consultations.

    In addition, Lands’ End is offering a website with videos on how to create a professional swimsuit fit experience and swim style tips from Glamour.

  • Staples’ Dallas stores first to roll out new product categories

    Staples this week debuted eight new product categories in its Dallas retail stores to help business customers “Make More One-stop Shopping Happen.” The product expansion is rolling out to more than 1,000 stores across the U.S. and hundreds more in Canada.

  • Study: Contactless card shipments grow

    Munich, Germany - Contactless payment card shipments accelerated globally in 2013. According to figures released by the Smart Payment Association (SPA), contactless technologies were present on 37% of all smart payment cards shipped in 2013.

    By far the greatest increase was experienced in the Asia Pacific region, where contactless shipments grew by 193%, compared to 2012. Other regions around the globe experienced strong growth rates, ranging from 45% in the Americas to 64% in Western Europe.

  • Chico's FAS to enter Canada

    Chico's FAS is looking to establish a Canadian footprint, and plans in late August to open three boutiques in Ontario at Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga, Upper Canada Mall in Newmarket and Mapleview Shopping Centre in Burlington.

    The Chico's brand was founded in 1983 as a boutique selling Mexican folk art and cotton sweaters from a store on Florida's Sanibel Island. Today, Chico's sells exclusively designed, private branded clothing for women.
