Englewood, Colo. -- Sports Authority wants customers to line up early on Saturday, Sept. 5 for its annual winter sports blowout sale identified for the past 61 years by the quirky name Sniagrab.
Sniagrab (“bargains” spelled backwards) is the world’s largest ski and snowboard sale, according to Sports Authority, offering customers priced reductions of as much as 90% off original prices on previous seasons’ ski and snowboard equipment, winter apparel and accessories. The sale runs Sept. 5-13 at four Sports Authority Stores in Colorado and one location in Utah and features brands such as Burton, K2, Salomon, Columbia, The North Face and Spyder. Sports Authority operates 467 stores in 41 states and Puerto Rico.
“Our customers have come to know and love Sniagrab, and they patiently wait for this announcement every year in order to get exceptional values on ski and snowboard equipment, winter apparel and more for the upcoming season,” said Stephen Binkley, chief merchandising officer at the Sports Authority. “We anticipate another successful year and look forward to providing our customers with great value, outstanding service and winter essentials from our leading brands.”
There retailer is encouraging customers line before 7:30 a.m. to take advantage of exclusive giveaways, deals and promotions, including Bonus Bucks ranging in value from $10 to $100 for the first 250 customers in line. One customer will receive $500 in Bonus Bucks but only customers who are in line prior to 7:30 a.m. are eligible for the giveaway.
In an effort to increase average transaction size, Sports Authority is offering a $25 cash card good for use at the retailer’s stores to those who spend between $300 and $399 and a $50 card to those who spend between $500 and $699. Those who spend more than $700 receive a $75 cash card.
Other incentives to generate traffic include the opportunity to win ski passes and other items.
