Walgreens goes local with first Hawaii store

10/22/2007

DEERFIELD, Ill. Walgreens today announced that it is partnering with more than 50 local producers to supply its first Hawaii drug store, set to open Nov. 1 in Honolulu.

“We’re committed to offering a broad selection of local products so that from the first day, our customers feel at home in our stores,” said Dana Psomas, Walgreens district manager for Hawaii. “We’re especially proud to have so many local suppliers represented in a store smaller than our typical size. We’ve learned from our vendors what is important to Hawaii’s customers, and that’s reflected in our merchandise offerings.”

According to Walgreens, its product partners in Hawaii will supply items such as bread, dairy, candy, local snacks, automotivet needs and greeting cards.

The company has plans to open three additional stores in the Aloha state in the second half of 2008.
