Walgreens Feb. sales up 14.5%

DEERFIELD, Ill. Walgreens today reported February sales of $4.9 billion, and increase of 14.5% from $4.3 billion for the same month in 2007. Sales in comparable-stores rose 8.3%, while comparable-store front-end sales increased 8.2%. The company noted that this year’s February sales benefited from one extra day because of the leap year.

Fiscal 2008 year-to-date sales for the six months were $29.4 billion, up 10.5% from $26.64 billion. Comparable-store sales for the fiscal year to date increased 5.1%.
