Trend Tracker: A&P gets wine-y

A&P’s partnership with Best Cellars, a specialty retailer of adult beverages, has borne fruit in the form of its first-ever Best Cellars at A&P shop (pictured) in Westwood, N.J., a New York suburb, showing that retailers are becoming more creative in pursuing an increasingly demanding consumer.

The new concept reflects Best Cellars’ philosophy of merchandising wine by flavor, rather than label or variety. New merchandising twists also include extending to beer the flavor-oriented approach applied to wine, thus helping consumers find new brews to their tastes among those offered.
